Reisikiri 4. Omaan: Nizwa ja teekond sinna.

Omaani jõudsime väga hilja õhtul ning seetõttu palusin hotellil lennujaama transfeeri vastu saata. Esimese öö veetsime Muscati lennujaama juures asuvas Holiday Inn'is. Järgmisel hommikul rentisime lennujaamast 4-ratta veoga auto. Autot rentides tuleb tähele panna, et rendilepingus on antud keskmine päevane kilometraaž, mis on n-ö hinna sees. Kõik, mis läheb sellest üle, tuleb hiljem juurde maksta. Meie lepingus oli 125 km, aga reaalselt sõitsime peaaegu iga päev vähemalt 2 korda rohkem.

Omaan on selline riik, kus ilma autot rentimata väga hakkama ei saa. Enamus vaatamisväärsusi on ligipääsetavad ainult autoga ning mägedesse ilma 4-ratta veota ei lastagi - tee peal on kontrollpunkt. Teed on Omaanis väga head, kui me tegime ka kõrvalepõikeid mööda mägiteid ja seal osutus suurema auto olemasolu vägagi kasulikuks.


We arrived to Oman very late in the evening so I had asked hotel to pick us up from the airport. First night we spent in Holiday Inn near to the airport. Next morning we rented a 4-wheel drive car from the airport. When renting a car in Oman pay attention that there is am average mileage per day in the contract that is included. Everything that you drive extra you have to pay for. In our contract the average was 125 km per day but in reality we drove almost every day at least twice more. 

Oman is a country where it's very hard to get by without a car. Most of the sites are accessible only by car and you cannot go to the mountains without 4-wheel drive - there are check points. The roads are in very good state but we also did some off-roading and there it was really good to have bigger car. 

Eesmärgiks oli jõuda Nizwasse, kuid teel sinna sõitsime ka Jebel Akhdari mägedesse. Vaated olid lihtsalt imelised!

Our destination was Nizwa but on a way there we also went to Jebel Akhdar mountains and the views were just stunning!

Peatusime ka Bayt ar Ridaydah kindluse juures, kuid see oli renoveerimiseks suletud.

We also stopped at Bayt ar Ridaydah fort but it was closed for renovation.

Nizwa on kunagine pealinn, kus asuvad suur kindlus ja turg, kus reede hommikuti müüakse elusloomi. Piirkond on kuulus datlite poolest ja neid on seal väga palju erinevaid sorte. Turul saab erinevaid sorte proovida ning on uskumatu, kui palju võivad datlid maitse poolest erineda. Nizwa enda vaatamiseks piisab täielikult poolest päevast, kuid ta on väga hea peatusbaas ümbruskonna avastamiseks. Meie ööbisime Nizwas 2 ööd, kuid tegelikult oleks võinud olla 1 öö veel, sest ümbruskonnas jäi nii mõndagi nägemata.

Nizwa is a former capital and mostly famous for its big fort and souk (market) where they sell live stock on Friday mornings. The whole area is known for dates and they have a huge variety of dates there. You can try different ones at the souk and it's incredible how differently they can taste. Half a day totally sufficient to see Nizwa but it's very good base for discovering all the surrounding areas. We spent 2 nights in Nizwa but actually one more night would have been nice because there were places we didn't have time to see.
