Grand Mosque |
Seega tasub hästi ette planeerida, mida Muscatis teha.
I've reached to the final chapter of the trip - Muscat. We assumed that there's a lot to do in the capital and decided to spend there 3 days. Actually one day would have been enough. There are very few museums (less than 10) in the whole city. We visited three. In the middle of the day the city is pretty much dead - everything is closed for several hours, including museums and the market. The only places open are the restaurants. It's too hot to just walk around during that time. Therefore you really need to plan what you are doing in Muscat.

Külastatud muuseumid:
- Bait al Baranda - annab ülevaate Omaani geoloogilisest ajaloost.
- Ghalya's museum - näitab Omaani elu 1970. aastate alguses. Pisike, kuid armas muuseum.
Visited museums:
- Bait al Baranda - gives an overview about Oman's geological history. Building itself is very pretty and is worth seeing. English texts and signs are available.
- Bait al Zubair - the best of those three museums. Huge collection of traditional clothes, armory, furniture, jewelry and other household items. All the texts are available in English and give good insight to Omani life.
- Ghalya's museum - shows Oman life in 1970-s. Small but nice museum.
Muscati üks suurimaid vaatamisväärsusi on kahtlemata Suur Mošee. See on üks suurimaid mošeesid maailmas. Turiste lastakse sisse hommikuti 8:00-11:00. Mošees olevad lühter ja vaip on samuti ühed maailma suurimad. Vaiba käsitsi kudumine võttis aega 4 aastat ja selleks kulus 21 tonni materjali.
One of the biggest attractions in Muscat is definitely Grand Mosque. It's one of the biggest mosques in the world. Tourists are allowed inside in the mornings from 8 til 11 a.m. The chandelier and the carpet are also ones of the biggest in the world. It took 4 years to hand weave the carpet and it weighs 21 tons.
Turg on avatud hommikuti ja õhtuti. See on natuke nagu labürint. Põhilisteks kaubaartikliteks on sallid, vaibad, hõbe, parfüümid ning kosmeetika, ehted ning igasugused odavad rahvusliku sümboolikaga suveniirid.
Souk (market) is open in the mornings and in the evenings. It reminds of a labyrinth. Main things that are sold there are shawls, carpets, silver, perfumes and cosmetics, jewelry and all kind of cheap souvenirs.
During midday closing hours we just went to the beaches and stayed in a shadow there. Beaches are quite empty in Muscat and there are no cafes nor option to change clothes. People start coming to the beaches right before sunset and then you can see a lot of football players on a beach.
Ja sellega saigi reisikiri läbi...
And this is the end of the travel stories....
