Once a month some Dutch knitters drive to Germany to a small town called Bocholt to meet local knitters over there. They gather at a lovely yarn shop, knit and chat together and just spend nice time. I've been going along two times now. Last time I also went for a little walk in the town itself and below are some photos.

Tegemist on ülevalt alla kootud raglaaniga. Ühtegi õpetust ma ei järginud. Kudusin nii nagu vardalt tuli. Lõngaks on Regia Tweed Trend (405 grammi), vardad 4 mm.
Last weekend I was in Copenhagen and among other things had my new sweater photographed. It's a top down raglan. I didn't follow any pattern. It just came out as it came. I used Regia Tweed Trend yarn (405 grams) and 4 mm needles.
And here are some shots of Copenhagen as well.

Liège ja Aachen
Lisaks Maastrichtile külastasin ka Liège'i Belgias ning Aachenit Saksamaal. Mõlemad ilusad vanad linnad.
In addition to Maastricht I also visited Liège in Belgium and Aachen in Germany. Both are beautiful old cities.

Reisikiri 9. Muscat
Grand Mosque |
I've reached to the final chapter of the trip - Muscat. We assumed that there's a lot to do in the capital and decided to spend there 3 days. Actually one day would have been enough. There are very few museums (less than 10) in the whole city. We visited three. In the middle of the day the city is pretty much dead - everything is closed for several hours, including museums and the market. The only places open are the restaurants. It's too hot to just walk around during that time. Therefore you really need to plan what you are doing in Muscat.

Bait al Zubair museum |
Ghalya's museum |
- Bait al Baranda - annab ülevaate Omaani geoloogilisest ajaloost.
- Ghalya's museum - näitab Omaani elu 1970. aastate alguses. Pisike, kuid armas muuseum.
Visited museums:
- Bait al Baranda - gives an overview about Oman's geological history. Building itself is very pretty and is worth seeing. English texts and signs are available.
- Bait al Zubair - the best of those three museums. Huge collection of traditional clothes, armory, furniture, jewelry and other household items. All the texts are available in English and give good insight to Omani life.
- Ghalya's museum - shows Oman life in 1970-s. Small but nice museum.
Muscati üks suurimaid vaatamisväärsusi on kahtlemata Suur Mošee. See on üks suurimaid mošeesid maailmas. Turiste lastakse sisse hommikuti 8:00-11:00. Mošees olevad lühter ja vaip on samuti ühed maailma suurimad. Vaiba käsitsi kudumine võttis aega 4 aastat ja selleks kulus 21 tonni materjali.
One of the biggest attractions in Muscat is definitely Grand Mosque. It's one of the biggest mosques in the world. Tourists are allowed inside in the mornings from 8 til 11 a.m. The chandelier and the carpet are also ones of the biggest in the world. It took 4 years to hand weave the carpet and it weighs 21 tons.
Turg on avatud hommikuti ja õhtuti. See on natuke nagu labürint. Põhilisteks kaubaartikliteks on sallid, vaibad, hõbe, parfüümid ning kosmeetika, ehted ning igasugused odavad rahvusliku sümboolikaga suveniirid.
Souk (market) is open in the mornings and in the evenings. It reminds of a labyrinth. Main things that are sold there are shawls, carpets, silver, perfumes and cosmetics, jewelry and all kind of cheap souvenirs.
During midday closing hours we just went to the beaches and stayed in a shadow there. Beaches are quite empty in Muscat and there are no cafes nor option to change clothes. People start coming to the beaches right before sunset and then you can see a lot of football players on a beach.
Ja sellega saigi reisikiri läbi...
And this is the end of the travel stories....

Reisikiri 8. Vesi ja liiv
Sur |
In Oman we of course had to try spending a night in a dessert but before getting there we passed by one of the most famous wadis in Oman - Wadi Bani Khalid. I must say that it was one of the most impressive place we saw in Oman.
It was surprisingly cold in the dessert during the night. Also the wind was quite strong and there was quite a lot of sand flying around. Still it was nice to look at the starry sky...
Reisikiri 7. Kilpkonnad ja krabid
Ras al Jinz |
After getting to know the surroundings of Nizwa we headed to the coast. Our goal was to visit Ras al Jinz turtle reservoir. They organize turtle watching tours there. Tours take place twice a day - in the evening at 9 and in the morning at 5 because turtles are active in the dark only. We took both tours. Evening tour is totally in the dark and you see the turtles using flashlights. Morning tour ends at sunrise and then it's possible to see the last turtles leaving the beach in daylight. We saw turtles laying the eggs and also little turtles heading towards the ocean.
Kilpkonna kaitseala pakub ka ise majutust, kuid see on üsnagi kallis. Seetõttu ööbisime lähedalasuvas Turtle Beach Resort'is. Veetsime seal ühe laisa päeva rannas, kus elutses hulgaliselt krabisid ning muid huvitavaid elukaid...
Turtle reservoir has a hotel but it's quite expensive. That's why we stayed at Turtle Beach resort which is quite close by. We spend one lazy day on a beach there and saw lots of crabs and some other weird animals...
